SAFe Certification Requirements



Step 1: Take our 2 day SAFe certification class.

    Take online class, or ...

    ... take an in-person classroom class. No prerequisite to attend class. If you require the hours for other certifications, the class gives you 16 PDUs and 16 SEUs.


    Step 2: Apply for SAFe test at scaledagile.com.

      Prerequisite: 2 day SAFe certification class.

      There is NO educational requirement in order to take the SAFe SA (Leading SAFe), SAFe SP (SAFe for Teams), SAFe SSM, or SAFe PO/PM tests.

      The SAFe SA (Leading SAFe) and SAFe SP (SAFe for Teams) classes are entry-level classes, and explain the basics of agile and Scrum.

      The SAFe Scrum Master and SAFe PO/PM classes assume you understand the basics of agile and Scrum through (1) work experience, and/ or (2) certifications such as CSM, CSPO, SAFe SA, SAFe SP, PMI-ACP, and/ or (3) reading a good book on agile.

      There is NO work experience requirement in order to take the SAFe SA, SAFe SP, SAFe Scrum Master, or SAFe PO/PM tests.

      The SAFe exam test fee is included in the class.


      Step 3: It is not necessary to schedule the SAFe test.

      There is no need to schedule the SAFe test. The online SAFe test is available any time you are ready, 24 hours a day.


      Step 4: Take the SAFe test.

        Take online test at home or office. 45 questions, 1.5 hours, multiple choice, computer-based. You have 30 day access to take the exam. The test fee is included in the class (if taken within 30 days after class), the retake fee is $ 50.
        SAFe SA exam: Answer 35 out of the 45 questions (or 77%) correctly in order to pass.
        SAFe SP exam: Answer 35 out of the 45 questions (or 77%) correctly in order to pass.
        SAFe SSM exam: Answer 34 out of the 45 questions (or 75%) correctly in order to pass.
        SAFe PO/PM exam: Answer 33 out of the 45 questions (or 73%) correctly in order to pass.

        The SAFe exam is NOT administered at PearsonVue test centers.


        Step 5: SAFe membership.

          The SAFe certification is bestowed upon you by Scaled Agile Inc.
          After you pass the SAFe certification, you automatically become a member of Scaled Agile; the membership fee for the first year is included in the class.
          Market yourself more effectively by letting others know about your SAFe certification.
          Through Scaled Agile, join local user groups, and online social networks.
          Participate in SAFe Meetup groups.


          Step 6: Maintain SAFe certification.

            Collect 10 continuing education hours per year, and ...

            ... after 1 year, pay SAFe certification renewal fee of $ 100 at scaledagile.com.
